Learn to be a better listener to connect with the important people in your life.
Whether you're a CIO, an IT manager, an MSP owner, or an IT professional, you can use Stephen Covey's five levels of listening to enhance communication and build strong relationships. By moving beyond simply hearing words and striving to understand the speaker's intent and emotions, you can build deeper connections with colleagues, clients, and partners.
Here are Covey's five levels of listening:
5) Ignoring: Not paying attention to the other person.
4) Pretending: Acting like you're listening, but you're not really paying attention.
3) Selective listening: Only paying attention to parts of the conversation that interest you.
2) Attentive listening: Paying close attention to the speaker, but while they’re speaking, thinking about what you want to say.
1) Empathic listening: Trying to understand and remember the speaker's feelings and perspectives.
By practicing empathic listening, you’ll resolve conflicts more effectively, provide better customer service, and build stronger teams.
