Video of HVAC 085 Pump Down in HVAC course by Love2HVAC with Ty Branaman channel, video No. 101 free certified online
Step 1 is pump down a good choice
A Is the filter drier before or after the service valve and only 1. double check.
B Is the tube and fin condensing coil large enough
c If its micro channel or a small condenser doe it have an accumulator to handle it.
Step 2 have the compressor running
A if its a heat pump make sure its in cooling mode
B attach gauges and take the caps off the valves.
Step 3 Quickly close the liquid valve
Step 4 10-15 psi or funny noises (which ever is first) shut the power off
(the compressor should hold the refrigerant)
Step 5 close the suction valve and put the caps on
Note do not start a unit while it is pumped down.
Do not run a compressor in a vacuum.
