We cover how to automate stock commentary in a report in Excel. In our example, we have the fictitious returns of Microsoft, Netflix and JP Morgan. What we want to do is create some commentary about how these stocks performed throughout the month, however, do this in an automated way. This will be especially useful if you’re in a role where you have to do reporting or write monthly commentaries and want to increase efficiency. There are three things we want to convey in our commentary: which stock ranked first, second and third relative to the others, how they traded throughout the month, whether positively, negatively or sideways and whether they finished on a positive or negative.
DISCLAIMER: Although I have taken great care to check all of the calculations, I am not a qualified accountant or advisor, and you should not use this video to substitute financial advice. The information provided is fictitious and is not representative of the actual performance of the stocks shown.
